
Shay Boyle enters his fourth season as the Head Varsity Coach of the Gordon Tech Boys Basketball program after a successful 6-year career as a college men’s assistant basketball coach at Loyola University Chicago (DI) and Lewis University (DII). Boyle and his staff have brought new energy and excitement to Gordon Tech and have quickly turned around the Gordon Tech program that has long been recognized as a north-side power.
In 2008-2009 in Boyle’s first season at the helm of Gordon, he was named District 1, Class 3A District Coach of the Year by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association. That same year the Rams more than tripled their win total from the previous year (3 wins to 11 wins) to win their first Regional Championship since 2002 by defeating Ridgewood on Gordon’s home-court. Boyle developed the Gordon Tech Summer Basketball Camps and serves as the Director, overseeing every aspect of the camps, including staffing, planning, marketing, and enrollment.
Boyle is a 1999 cum laude graduate from the University of Notre Dame where he received his undergraduate degrees in Marketing and Computer Applications. He received his MBA in Marketing from Lewis University in 2004. Boyle worked as a computer consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers from 1999-2002 where he specialized in IT Security and worked for several Fortune 500 clients as a Senior Associate. He also served as an instructor in Lewis’ Sports Management program.
Boyle is a 1995 graduate of Weber High School where he was a four-year member and team captain of the basketball and baseball teams. He was named to the Catholic League All-Conference Baseball team during his senior year. Boyle is a 1991 graduate of Our Lady of Victory where he played for legendary Coach Jim Watson.
